Into the Wild
The Into the Wild project was a project based off of the story of Chris McCandless, a young man who abandoned society and went into Alaska. The beginning of the project consisted of reading the biography of Chris and doing many socratic seminars discussing his decision to leave. When we completed the book, we prepared journals much like McCandless's in which we wrote daily entries and took to a camping trip in Anza Borrego. I learned about many different outlooks on life as well as how to have better socratic seminars.
I am very proud of the fun I had during the camping trip, although its not necessarily a lot of work, I got to talk to a lot of people I don't normally talk to. I went hiking and hung out with people I often avoid and also shared a tent with someone I don't get along with. If I had to redo the project, I would have put more preparation into the final product because it was difficult to complete as a group. The book turned out disastrous because the whole group was very disorganized. If I had the chance to do the project over, I would work on the organization and delegation of work in the group.
